NO FIREWORKS
But a solid evening’s work for all involved at Norfolk dinner show
NORWICH NOVEMBER 5 ★★★★★ WHOLE SHOW
NOT a single round was dropped by the home boxers at the Holiday Inn where a quartet of four-round contests, one of them a ladies bout, provided the Bonfire Night entertainment.
Local lightweight Owen Blunden had outscored Stockport centurion Jamie
Quinn 40-37 when the pair first exchanged pleasantries almost two years ago, so he was doubtless happy to go one better this time, banking his seventh straight win and maintaining his 100 per cent record in the process.
Ipswich middle Frankie Davey was one of three boxers taking part in their second paid contests and he eased to victory too against Padiham’s Seamus Devlin who conversely is still looking to break his duck, this being his twelfth career outing.
Only opponent to take a share of a round was 33-year-old Canning Town southpaw Lee
Hallett but it was nothing more than that, and in against hugely popular Great Yarmouth puncher Mikie Webber-kane, who had made his paid bow across the city at The Halls just a couple of months previously, he was bested for the most part.
The ladies bout, a four-twos between Dereham’s Emma Dolan and highly experienced Slovakian Claudia Ferenczi went the way of the former, though having taken less than a minute to triumph on her debut last time out, Emma had to settle for a shut-out win over the distance this time.
It was announced that Southern Area welterweight champion Liam Goddard would be out again and looking to defend his title just a week before Christmas at the Norfolk Showground.
