Returning Anton dominates tough Quinn, writes Will Hale from ringside

-

BRISTOL’S Anton Haskins headlined a Mark Neilson-promoted evening of eight contests over four-threes at Swindon’s MECA and shut out Stockport’s Jamie Quinn on Chas Coakley’s card.

Anton controlled the action, Quinn attempted to close the gap behind a high guard but was forced to soak up several eyewatering body attacks.

Brad Ingram from Gloucester bested Sheffield’s rotund Qassim Hussian by 40-35 Bates’ tally in his debut. Qassim was docked a point in the last for spitting out his shield intentionally.

Likewise, Calne’s Connor Grey made a successful paid bow in forcing Glasgow’s Gary Mcguire to pull out with a rib injury at the start of the third. Coakley officiated.

Swindon’s Jensen Irving returned at middle to take a 40-37 verdict from Bates over Russian Evgenni Vazem. Irving fired his shots in staccato bursts over the first two, but then turned more aggressive and had the visitor on the run over the latter half.

Rhoose’s Jay Munn bagged every session against Vladimir Fleischhauer on Coakley’s ledger. Munn was aggressive throughout with fast hands and a tremendous punch output.

Fellow Welshman Conor Mcintosh won every round but was made to work by spirited Russian Rustem Fatkhullin. The quicker, cleaner work came from Southpaw Conor, but the visitor boxed well on the back foot to last the course. Bates refereed.

Swindon switch-hitter Lewis Roberts won a 39-37 debut decision from Coakley over Bradford’s winless Jake Pollard. Robert’s was most effective at long range against a busy yet ineffective opponent. The all-hereford derby between first-timer Jake Price and Dean Evans took fight of the night, with Bates awarding a 38-38 draw.
