MAN STABBED IN M5 DRAMA
MAN ARRESTED AFTER REPORTS OF DISPUTE AT SLIP-ROAD TRAFFIC LIGHTS
A MAN has been arrested following a stabbing incident at a junction of the M5 in North Somerset.
The incident happened on the southbound slip road of the M5 at junction 21 (Weston-super-Mare) at around 10.10pm, close to a set of traffic lights.
A 42-year-old man, from Birmingham has been arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent and was yesterday in police custody for questioning.
A 26-year-old man was taken to hospital by ambulance, where he remained yesterday for treatment, but his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
Police have said that enquiries into the incident are ongoing.
On Saturday morning one lane of the M5 remained closed so police officers could carry out further examinations at the scene.
A police statement earlier said: “The victim was a passenger in a car which had just exited the M5 at this junction and was at a set of traffic lights. A dispute then ensued with the driver of another car, following which the victim was stabbed.”
