ASEARCH has been launched for a ‘hero’ schoolboy who pushed a woman more than a mile in her mobility scooter after it broke down.

The youngster – a student at the Oasis Academy John Williams in Hengrove – went to the aid of the woman after spotting her sitting in her broken down scooter in West

Town Lane, Brislington on Friday morning.

The youngster, believed to be 14 or 15 years old, helped the woman after noticing she had been left stranded and other people were just walking by.

The student, who was on his way to class, stepped in – pushing the woman in her scooter to Tesco in Brislington – more than a mile away.

The grateful woman then rang the school when she arrived back home to praise the actions of the young boy.

But without knowing who he was, the school could not pass the message of thanks on.

Oasis Academy vice principal Andrea Rea put a message out on a parent email over the weekend asking for information in a bid to track down the student.

But as yet, his identity remains a mystery.

Mrs Rae said: “This student saw the woman stuck in her broken down scooter on his way to school.

“She said other people were walking past regardless when he came up to her and offered to help.

“He then pushed her in her scooter all the way to the Tesco store in Brislington.

“She described the student as around 14 or 15 which would mean he would be in year 10 or 11.

“She rang the school to pass on her thanks and said how polite and kind the young man was.

“She said she would have been lost without him.

“He did the right thing when no one was watching.

“We are keen to track him down and acknowledge him and reward him for his actions.

“But so far we have had no luck. “Perhaps he is shy, or just humble.

“But I think it’s important that we pass on this lady’s thanks at least.”

If anyone knows the identity of the schoolboy they should contact the school on 01275 894680.
