Suburban Wessex edge out Bilbao to make it three wins out of three

WESSEX Wanderers have made a flying start in the Senior Divisions with three wins in the first eight days - Wanderers brought these games forward before the season officially starts this Saturday.

Bristol Bilbao, who also play at the South Bristol Sports Ground, were their opponents and Wessex edged an exciting game 4-3 with four different goalscorer­s, Jordan Evans, Tom Trimble, Freddie Loyd and Matt McCarthy. Ewan Phillips bagged a brace and Mike Micciche also scored for Bilbao.

AFC Brislingto­n inflicted a second defeat on Keynsham Town A, winning 4-0 at the AJN Stadium, to make it six points from two games.

Jasper Mumuni completed a hattrick for Ashton United who started their season with an excellent 4-0 win in the derby at Stockwood Wanderers Reserves. ‘Magic’ Dadds also scored.

At their new ground at Manor Road, Keynsham, Redbridge beat Jamaica Bell 2-0, thanks to strikes from Lewis George and Jakob White. Ridings High won 1-0 at home to Southmead Athletic.

Two games were played in Premier One and both games ended 4-2. Kai Debbonaire, Adam Lloyd, Endrit Dorsti and Oscar Can De were the Easton Cowboys marksmen at Blackhorse Road against AFC Mangotsfie­ld, while Rockleaze Rangers Reserves beat Stoke Gifford United at Hillside Gardens.

Jack Scott scored twice to help

AFC Mangotsfie­ld Reserves to a 3-1 win against Easton Cowboys Reserves, with Simon Bracey also on target. Dan Proctor struck the Cowboys’ goal. Another player to score twice was Joel Edwards for Old Cothamians Reserves in a 3-2 win at Stoke Gifford Reserves. Tom Kitgrave scored the other goal.

Daryl Cox and Ethan Caswell were on target for Cosmos in a 4-2 defeat to Rockleaze Rangers A at Hillside Gardens.

Little Stoke Reserves had a 5-0 win over Corinthian Sports.

In Division Two, promoted AFC Whitchurch beat Fishponds OB 3-1, thanks to goals from Jamie Churches, Ricky Clark and Ollie Randall.

Joe Hudson (2), Matt Bassett and Jacob Flynn, with a penalty, were the Rockleaze Rangers B marksmen in a 4-2 win at Lawrence Weston Athletic Reserves.

Danny Daly (2) and Josh Painter earned St Valliers a 3-0 win against Lockleaze Community.

Broad Plain House Reserves started the season with a 5-2 win at Ashton Vale against Parson Street OB.

In Division Three, Sulleyman Mohammed struck twice for Wessex Wanderers Reserves in a 2-2 draw at home to newcomers Long Ashton Victoria, for whom George Durban scored twice.

Valhalla drew 1-1 with Rockleaze Rangers C, while Cutters Friday A and Bedminster Down fought out a goalless draw at Stockwood.

Jack Szur hit a hat trick to help

Socius United to a 4-2 home win over Stoke Gifford United A, with Ollie Louch also on target.

Our thoughts go to Bradley Mead, of FC Union Bristol, who suffered a broken leg and ankle when his team were 2-0 up at home to Little Stoke A after 40 minutes. Everybody at the Bristol Suburban League wish Bradley a full and speedy recovery.

League newcomers AFC Corinthian­s started their season with a 1-0 victory against Stoke Rangers Reserves, thanks to a goal from Kofi Antwi.

Jamie Semmence scored twice for Corinthian Sports Reserves in a 4-2 win against Bristol Phoenix Reserves. Shahin Armani and Alan Perkins were the other marksmen for Sports.
