New app to make charging electric vehicles simpler

A NEW app has launched that allows electric vehicle (EV) owners to charge across multiple providers using a single service.

Called Zap-Pay, it’s run by Zap-Map, which is a service that shows EV owners the location of public charging points across the UK.

As it stands, EV owners must have accounts across various different providers. While many allow users to pay using a contactles­s card, a recent survey of more than

Move up to Elegance and you’ll find larger 18-inch alloy wheels included in the car’s specificat­ion, as well as a rear-view camera and adaptive cruise control. Inside, Elegance cars benefit from a leather-wrapped steering wheel and heated seats, among other features. Finally, there’s the R-Line, which found 68% were concerned about being able to access a charge point when needed. The app will include the map of charging locations, as well as live status updates, charging history, PDF VAT receipts and 24/7 customer support. Zap-Pay will launch initially for use on the Engenie network, with ESB EV Solutions, LiFe and Hubsta joining soon after. The service will then be spread across more UK networks in 2021 to cover the whole country.
