BRISTOL CITY PLAYER RATINGS

-

Bristol City centre-back Taylor Moore wins a header

DAN BENTLEY - 7

Stoke had no shots on target so not a lot to do. Read the game well though - as he always does - to hoover up the loose stuff, which included taking all the high balls. ZAK VYNER - 8

Did nothing flashy but won enough duels and made enough clearances to help keep the home side out. Saw off Brown, Campbell, Fletcher and a shoulder injury to help City to a second league win in a row.

TAYLOR MOORE - 8

Headed a Paterson corner just wide in the first half and stepped in when needed at the back. Plenty of good covering runs behind Vyner and Mawson. Terrific block to stop Powell shooting after 66 minutes and City’s best defender in the final stages.

ALFIE MAWSON - 7

A few poor clearances almost left City in trouble. But his raking passes out to Hunt on the far flank from his left centre-back position helped City change the angle of attack. Solid in the air.

JACK HUNT - 6

Raided forward well with Vyner fanning out behind him, with several good arcing crosses sent across the Stoke goal. TYREEQ BAKINSON - 7

A couple of superb passes showed the scope of his passing. And that 6ft 3ins frame helped win several tackles in broken play. Lovely one-touch pass released Rowe in the second half, while another slick pass played in Wells into a dangerous area in the first half.

JAMIE PATERSON - 6

His passing wasn’t as clinical as it can be, with a couple of passes overhit to kill several promising City moves but there was plenty of guile from the attacking midfielder.

ANDI WEIMANN - 7

A poor first touch stopped him making the most of a Wells cutback early on, before the chance to play in Martin one-on-one just before 20 minutes was not taken. Kept running hard, however, and certainly won his fair share of loose balls. Settled the contest when he slotted past Davies two minutes from the end. TOMMY ROWE - 6

Terrific sliding tackle after half-an-hour on Brown to rescue a dangerous situation in midfield, and his measured knocks down the left flank were accurate enough to keep City on the attack.

NAHKI WELLS - 8

Should have scored in the first two minutes after he collected a bad Clucas pass, just needing to round Davies. Set up Weimann nicely just after. Finished the first half by opening the scoring as he met Martin’s excellent hook across goal. Terrific work rate and looked shattered when he came off late on.

CHRIS MARTIN - 8

Silky first touch meant almost anything went to him stuck. However, should have done better when he shot wide from just inside the area after 20 minutes. Lovely turn past Clucas on 48 minutes showed his class. Superb hook across goal created the opening score. Diedhiou has a lot to do to reclaim his place in the side. SUBSTITUTES
