Jay bags four goals as 3 Lions go roaring on

JAY Murray played a starring role as 3 Lions made it three wins from three games in the Bristol Premier Sunday League Premier Division with a 9-1 triumph against Cutters Friday at Norton Lane.

The teenage son of former Bristol City favourite Scott Murray scored four goals as 3 Lions confirmed their intention to be challengin­g strongly for the title this season, as they were last season before it was curtailed by the coronaviru­s pandemic.

Harry Tobin weighed in with a hat-trick, while Alfie Clarke and veteran striker Andy Perrett also scored for the Bedminster pub side. Scott Hatcher scored the consolatio­n for Cutters.

FC United of Yate dropped points for the first time this season with a 2-2 home draw against Galenicals. Ben Hopson and Ben Odono scored for Yate, with Harvey Johnson and Parvez Nedaie on target for the visitors.

Bristol Weston United lost for the first time this season, beaten 3-1 at Sportsman, while Tytheringt­on Rocks Sunday and 3 Lions Reserves battled out a 3-3 draw at Hardwicke Playing Fields.

Bristol Academia look like they will take some stopping in the Senior Division after they followed up two 8-0 wins with a 5-0 success against Bristol Jaguars at the AJN Stadium, Keynsham.

Unbeaten Lockstock United had two goals apiece from Shontay Campbell and Conor Hartley in a 4-4 home draw against Little Stoke OB, who replied through Shamus Arndell, Adam Porter, Dan Turner and an own goal.

Breakaways had goals from Richard Prynn and Darryl Towler in a 2-1 success at Lawrence Weston, whose goal came from Marley Rugman.

Warwick won 3-2 at home to Kingswood Athletic, thanks to goals from Thomas Gould (2) and Joe Weston. Sean Evans, who was later sent off, and Aiden James scored for Kingswood.

In a top-of-the-table Division One game, AFC Sodbury maintained their 100 per cent start with a 3-2 win against Borussia Bristol, thanks to Tom Melling’s hat-trick. The Borussia marksmen were Joe Hillard and Cassidy Langman.

Tidenham Sunday had goals from Mo Salihu (3) and Joshua Charles in a 4-1 victory at Hanham Cricket, who responded through Charlie Pugsley.

Longreach Athletic ran out 7-4 winners at home to Cutters Friday A, following goals from Thomas Haim (3), Matthew Troth (2), Jack Coggins and William Powell. Roy Albert hit a hat-trick for Cutters, with Ellis Packer also on target.

Yate Rangers had goals from Sean Collins and Scott Strauss in a 2-0 home win against Spartans.

In Division Two, AJN won 5-0 at Bristol Argyle, courtesy of goals from Chris King (2), Michael Watson (2) and Daniel Zerk.

Goals from Michael Barton, Ben Robbins and Edd Smith gave Shadwell Rovers a 3-0 home success

against Fishponds Town Wizards. Whitchurch had two goals from Sam Moore and one from Jason Maghee in a 3-1 home win against Mendip Broadwalk, whose goal came from Danny Lock.

Division Three leaders Sporting QTAC won 5-3 at Hambrook United, with strikes from Adam Hodson, Adam Palmer, Lewis Pratten and Harry Roberts, as well as an own goal. Joshua Cook, Eric Davies and Mitchell Vardy replied.

Sporting United had goals from Martin Bliss and Steven Harrington in a 2-2 home draw against Longreach Athletic Reserves, whose marksmen were Ashley Maisey and Richard Cleverley.

The top two in Division Four, Badocks Wood and Bristol Union, drew 2-2 at the Civil Service Sports Club.

Bristol Spartak were indebted to strikes from Jay Bray, Ben Francis, Jude Dunn, Liam Milkins and Rico Williams for a 5-2 home success against The Argonauts, who replied through Harry Ball and Kyran Davis. South Bristol had goals from Lyam Ali, Cody Vile, Callum Gaylard and Tom Noades in a 4-1 victory at home to Southmead Sunday.
