Motorsport Alfie shines under the floodlights

-

ALFIE Gendall extended his lead in the Junior American Cup Car Racing Championship after round six at the Birmingham Wheels Raceway.

Round six took place in dry conditions but for the first time the final would take place under floodlights. Alfie took the chequered flag first in heat one but was demoted two places to third after a small touch with the car in front, which had slowed suddenly due to a car which they were about to lap having a technical issue and running slower than normal.

Heat two was a good battle at the front between Alfie, in the number 31, and the number 7, with Alfie taking the lead halfway through the race with a nice move around the outside of the first turn and maintaining a gap to take the victory.

The final under the floodlights was a new twist for the young racers. Alfie came through the pack early on in the race and once he took the lead didn’t relinquish it and took the victory with the number 32 of Lara Spicer taking second.

Alfie said: “The racing was good fun as usual and it was great to get two more race victories and a nice lot of points to extend my lead in the championship. I am really looking forward to the next round at Buxton Raceway”

Alfie has extended his lead in the 2020 championship standings to 90 points with three rounds left.

Alfie, who is the defending British champion in the series, would like to thank his sponsors, including Williams Automobiles

of Chipping Sodbury, TopWelds, the Rotary Club of Chipping Sodbury, Powersystems UK, Specialist Motorworx, Pentax, Bristol Cameras, Nikon, Castle Combe and Speed Demon Industries. “A massive thank you goes out to my sponsors, I could not go racing without them so I really appreciate their support they have given me,” he said.

If any local companies wish to get their logo added to the car please email alfiegendallracing@gmail.com as new sponsors are always very welcome and it doesn’t cost as much as you think to join the team and get your business name seen by thousands.

The Junior American Cup Cars are powered by a Honda GX390 engine and are limited to approx 65mph. The series is open to eight to 15-year-olds and is a very safe way to introduce children and teenagers to motorsport.
