Football New Owls boss Pulis praises Lansdown
TONY Pulis will be looking for his 100th win as a manager in the Championship this coming weekend when Sheffield Wednesday take on Preston North End in his first game in charge of the Owls.
The former Bristol City boss and Bristol Rovers defender was swiftly appointed to replace the departing Garry Monk at Hillsborough last week, and he explained that Sheffield Wednesday are a huge club with great potential, if they can get back into the Premier League.
The former Stoke City, Middlesbrough, West Brom and Portsmouth manager, pictured, held his first press conference at his new team this week and in that he gave a mention to Bristol City owner Steve Lansdown. Pulis was commenting on the various owners around the English second tier.
He said: “The clubs I’ve been successful at are the clubs I’ve had really good relationships with the chairman and are the clubs I’ve really enjoyed most.
“Whether it was at Boro, Steve [Gibson] has been on the phone and rung me and I’ve had a really good chat with Steve.
Peter Coates has rung me and I’ve got to call him back.
My old chairman at Bournemouth Norman Hayward... The chairman at Bristol City is just a wonderful man ... People forget I was at Bristol City. I wasn’t there for very long, mind, but I was there and Steve Lansdown was a wonderful man.
“I’ve made good relationships and strong relationships with certain chairmen and they’ve accepted me for what I am and I’ve accepted them for what they are.
“If I can get this relationship going with the chairman and we can have a little bit of understanding then I’m sure it will help us collectively.
“And I think he’s the same - to hear my views and everything else,” he said.
