Tier 3 simply doesn’t appear to differ greatly from lockdown

-

WHAT a surprise Bristol is in Tier 3 and the suggestion is now that we must work harder to get the Covid rate down.

This is a background of poor Government decisions before the first lockdown, during, after and now.

We can have five days off for Christmas to mix, so I presume Covid is going to have a break during the festive period, is it? This is utter nonsense. I have never agreed with Steve Baker MP, but this time he is absolutely right.

As for Bristol, our renowned centre, hospitality and nightlife will be decimated, creating mass unemployment in the hospitality and creative industries. Will Bristol ever recover? I believe even more permanent closures will occur until a vaccine proves to be successful.

London with over 12 million people is on Tier 2. This does not make sense and is unrealistic and not believable.

Mr Baker is right when he asks where is the analysis for these tiers.

Local authorities should have had a major say in the tier ranking together with a plan, but this is a totally central and self centred government.

How long will this continue and after Christmas will it mean we will be in lockdown for longer? Tier 3 is lockdown no question about this.

We will no doubt be receiving higher taxes, including council tax demands, coming our way with a reduction in services. This is the economics of madness.

A new saying for this Prime Minister, Health Secretary and their advisors should be ‘In out shake it all about’. That’s how it seems if tiers are to be reassessed every two weeks. How can business plan on this basis?

The Government is relying on the vaccine but if one thing is certain it’s that nothing is certain in this life. David Bonomi Bristol
