BRISTOL CITY PLAYER RATINGS

-

DAN BENTLEY - 5

Great save low to his right to deny Smith, after being beaten by Crooks’ powerful header (no chance of stopping that), and another stop to deny Lindsay but several parries were unconvincing.

JACK HUNT - 5

His first-half cross was ruled out of play and there was little forward play as the home side dominated. Taken off at the break as Holden reshuffled the pack. ZAK VYNER - 4

Battled with Smith and Vassell down the right channel and recovered well when Smith knocked the ball over his head to run in on goal. But lost out to Smith as the Rotherham man got across him for the second goal.

TOMAS KALAS - 5

Gave away a clumsy free-kick in the first two minutes as he took out Lindsay on the flank and was punished. But did pretty well in his individual duels thereafter. TOMMY ROWE - 4

Gave too much room to Olosunde and Barlaser early on, and he was booked for a rash challenge. Overhit a great crossing chance just after and was out of position as Olosunde crossed for the second goal. TYREEQ BAKINSON - 5

Great pass out to Hunt after half-an-hour as Martin’s close-range finish was ruled out, but outfought at times in the middle, as Crooks, Barlaser and Smith bullied the Robins midfield for large parts.

CALLUM O’DOWDA - 3

Missing in action as he failed to pick up Crooks at the first direct free-kick, with Rotherham taking the lead. Wasted several good chances to cross thereafter and several corners were wasted. One good run through midfield in the second half but little quality to his play.

ADAM NAGY - 4

Started well, running back to collect loose balls and keeping possession neatly but another who struggled to live with the pressing of the home side’s midfield.

ANTOINE SEMENYO - 4

Was well marshalled by Wiles down the flank and, though he received little service, he was unable to create anything of quality. His crosses wee inaccurate, as were his shots. Didn’t close Olosunde well enough for the Millers’ second goal. CHRIS MARTIN - 4

Kept probing at the Rotherham defence with flicks and cute passes around the corner, but ultimately was well handled by Wood and MacDonald. May have been the game for Diedhiou, in hindsight.

NAHKI WELLS - 5

Intercepted well after 15 minutes to lead a quick counter-attack and tracked back with intensity but unable to collect any long passes from City’s back three. Mistimed a header from Martin’s cross. SUBSTITUTES

ADRIAN MARIAPPA (for Hunt, 45 mins) - 5

Unable to contribute any real quality after coming on at the break and going into the back three.

FAMARA DIEDHIOU (for Vyner, 45 mins) - 6

Had City’s best effort in the second period, drawing a save from Johansson. CHRIS BRUNT (for Tyreeq Bakinson, 62 mins) - n/a

Sprayed passes around from midfield but the Robins could still not create. HAN-NOAH MASSENGO (for Nagy, 82 mins) - n/a

A rare outing for the Frenchman as he got a few minutes in midfield.

OPI EDWARDS (for Semenyo, 82 mins) - n/a

The young wing-back got another outing late in the game, but the match was settled by then.
