Current level of criticism levelled at city mayor is just unfounded

-

BRISTOL mayor Marvin Rees is a man who deploys honour and integrity as his watchwords.

The current cricicism levelled at him is misguided and unfounded in form and degree.

Rest assured if there is a ‘conflict of interest’ between his post as Mayor of Bristol and his new role with Plimsoll Productions, he would be wise enough of his own volition to recuse himself from engaging with the respective project.

Equally Plimsoll Productions is a company with a professional approach and a reputation to match. They have a formidable record for producing quality work which serves to advance social concepts.

Together Marvin Rees and Plimsoll Productions are a fine team that augurs well for the future of his Mayoral role and the production of progressive programmes.

Indeed, assuming there is no conflict, the new position of Marvin Rees will actually enhance his present position qua mayor because whatever extra experience and knowledge he gains with Plimsoll Productions can be used to improve the myriad conditions relating to the people of Bristol.

So I look forward to Marvin Rees as the narrator of a programme analysing the historical significance of racism and sexism and speciesism that has been advanced in Bristol by such notable people as Francis Power Cobbe and Frederick Douglass.

For that will open the people’s eyes to the true potency and power of his new post.

Moreover I guess I have to confess I cannot wait to join reversebaseball-hatted Marv in the Square under the invisible ghost of injustice with Edward Colston shadowing his turns and twists on his scuffed skateboard.
