BRISTOL CITY PLAYER RATINGS

-

DAN BENTLEY - 7

Did well to come through the traffic and take several high balls while he stood little chance with McCleary’s deflected shot. JACK HUNT - 6

Wasted a good chance to cross after five minutes as he couldn’t beat the first man, but defended well to clear a cross to the back post after 17 minutes. Did enough in the second period as he stopped McCleary getting by him. ZAK VYNER - 7

Vital early clearance to stop a McCleary cross, and after he went off in the second half with a knock, the Robins were arguably not able to withstand the more direct stuff and the away side profitted. TOMAS KALAS - 8

Lovely interception early on to rob the ball in midfield and thread through for Wells - only for the striker to not be on the same wavelength. Towering header five minutes later to clear a dangerous Horgan cross and he carried on in that vein for the rest of the match.

TOMMY ROWE - 5

Had a good battle with the dangerous McCleary down his flank early on, letting the winger skip inside too easily at one point in the first half to shoot at goal, but otherwise largely in control. Troubled by Grimmer straight after the break, though. TYREEQ BAKINSON - 7

Majestic pass on 10 minutes to release Wells, wasted by the forward, and several other cute passes, with a shot at goal in the first half deflected wide. Not enough intensity shown after the break though, as City were forced backwards, with a few wayward passes. CALLUM O’DOWDA - 8

Carved through the Wycombe defence at times and his stood-up crosses helped Martin to score and set up further chances, while a ball into the Scot also set up a great chance in the first half.

ADAM NAGY - 6

Little impact in the middle, though he did plenty of chasing. Unable to get forward with much affect throughout the game. ANTOINE SEMENYO - 6

Fired low at goal from Martin’s cool pick-out but his shot at goal in the first half was cleared. Later provided a lovely run and through-ball to Wells straight after the break, before he dragged a chance to win the game wide with seven minutes to go after Diedhiou’s pass. CHRIS MARTIN - 8

Couldn’t pick out Wells in the box early on, nor find the right pass as City pushed forward on 16 minutes. But made up for that with a great header from O’Dowda’s cross, before blazing over when he may have settled the contest early on. A menace for much of the game.

NAHKI WELLS - 5

Wasteful touch as Bakinson played him in and couldn’t convert just after the break when played in by Semenyo with just Allsop to beat. Looks short of confidence. SUBSTITUTES

ADRIAN MARIAPPA (for Vyner, 62 mins) - 5

Came on for the stricken Vyner in the second half, and City missed the centreback’s physicality at the back.

FAMARA DIEDHIOU (for Wells, 69 mins) - 9

Picked out Semenyo for a great chance with seven minutes to go. Blockbuster finish as he hammered into the top corner to win the game.

OPI EDWARDS (for O’Dowda, 77 mins) - n/a

Swapped for the injured Irishman - and grabbed an assist as he set up Diedhiou for the winning goal.
