Winter bites Snow and ice warning as temperatures set to plummet
SNOW and ice could cause disruption across Bristol over the next few days as temperatures plunge.
Experts at the Met Office have issued four severe weather warnings through to Thursday for Bristol.
The alerts came into effect from 6pm last night and are set to last until until 6am on Thursday.
Forecasters have warned the adverse weather could cause travel chaos, power cuts and harm to life.
And the “feels like” temperatures in Bristol will dip to -3C overnight on Wednesday.
The alerts reads: “There is a slight chance that bus and train services may be delayed or cancelled, with some road closures and longer journey times.
“There is a small chance of travel delays on roads with some stranded
vehicles and passengers, along with delayed or cancelled rail and air trave
“A slight chance that power cuts may occur, with the potential to
affect other services, such as mobile phone coverage.
“A small chance of injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces.”
Light snow fell in parts of Bristol and Bath and North East Somerset on Monday afternoon, but it was too wet to settle.
During the festive period, Storm Bella battered large parts of the country with wind and rain, including Bristol.
Flooding hit parts of nearby Gloucestershire, while other regions were lashed with gusts of up to 70mph.
