BRISTOL ROVERS PLAYER RATINGS

-

JOE DAY - 7

Stood tall to deny Chuks Aneke in the first half, and after the break he was alert to sprint off his line and beat Conor Washington to a dangerous through ball. Let down by his defence as Jake ForsterCaskey’s flat corner found its way in at the near post. Denied Omar Bogle superbly in added time.

JOSH HARE - 5

Was included to offer a threat from crosses, but he had few opportunities to get beyond the wing-back Ian Maatsen. Picked out one good long diagonal for Ayunga which sparked a chance, but overall his influence was limited. Taken off just before the hour as Rovers changed shape.

ALFIE KILGOUR - 6

Wore the captain’s armband for the first time in a league game. Handled the dual threat of Aneke and Washington pretty well.

JACK BALDWIN - 6

Like Kilgour, he was dealing well with Charlton’s potent attack, only for the Gas defence to be breached in bizarre fashion. LUKE LEAHY - 5

Composed defensively but was unable to affect the game enough in attack.

ED UPSON - 5

Denied a golden chance for Charlton with a superb interception in the first half. Read the game well but lacked quality in his passing at times.

JOSH GRANT - 4

Started the game in lax fashion, giving the ball away far too often. Improved somewhat as the game went on, but this was a below-par performance.

ZAIN WESTBROOKE - 5

Did not make the most of his chances to deliver into the area, and he wasn’t quite on the same wavelength as his forwards at times.

LUKE MCCORMICK - 6

Rovers’ driving force in the first period, playing with positive intent and was denied an opening goal by Amos’ outstretched leg. Less influential after the break and was taken off.

BRANDON HANLAN - 5

Wasn’t at his best, struggling to hold the ball up and lacking composure when Ayunga found him in the centre with a good cross. Strong appeals for penalty were waved away. Not quite his day. JONAH AYUNGA - 7 (Pictured)

His first league start for the Gas and he put himself about. Proved to be a real handful for the Charlton back three and some great work in the left channel teed up Hanlan for a good chance before the break. Fewer openings after the break, but saw a certain equaliser blocked by the superb Adedeji Oshilaja. SUBSTITUTES
