Open-air pool to open after more than a year closed

-

PORTISHEAD Open Air Pool is to open this week – after being closed for more than a year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The lido, which last opened for cold water swimming sessions in February 2020, will open its doors on Friday.

Doors will open at 1pm and those wanting to swim will have to pre-book their swims online.

The pool will open Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday for now with plans to expand opening hours as restrictions continue to relax.

There will be two separate sessions – lane swimming and family or household bubble swims. Five lanes will be open at the pool with a maximum of eight people in each lane.

On Monday and Fridays the pool will open at 1pm with lane swimming available followed by a family/ household swim sessions, then further lane swimming.

On the weekends, family/household bubble swims will be available in the afternoon.

Tickets for swimming slots will be released on a weekly basis. There will also be some changes to operations at the pool to ensure visits are covid safe. A one-way system for swimmers is in place, with people coming in through the main entrance and leaving through the fire exit.

The number of changing rooms will be limited and people are asked to arrive ready in their swimming gear and change poolside when the session ends.

There will be no showers available in the changing rooms and only the poolside toilets will be available to use.

The tuck shop will also be closed but the cafe will be operating a takeaway service,

Booking for swim sessions is at www.portisheadopenairpool.org.uk.
