A spokesperson for First West of England said the company has been “supporting” their bus driver, and their thoughts are with the injured woman.

A spokesperson for First West of England said: “We can confirm there was a serious incident in Fishponds Road involving one of our buses and a female pedestrian who has been taken to hospital. This incident has meant the whole road has had to remain closed while police conduct their investigations into the circumstances leading up to this incident. We are providing our full assistance to the emergency services and have been supporting our driver.

“Our thoughts now are with the injured pedestrian and we are being regularly updated on her condition.

“The safety and well-being of our passengers, drivers and the public is our number one priority, and all customers were transferred onto another service.”
