BUDDING gamers are set to get a boost from Beckham after a new online training academy was launched by Guild Esports, which is co-owned by the ex-England star.

The online academy – the first in the world – will welcome players aged 11+ and provide a range of resources designed to nurture their learning and life skills, as well as gaming abilities.

David says: “I was lucky to have been part of a very successful academy system. I had a coach called Eric Harrison who was responsible for the success the youth team and the academy had.

“He made us good human beings and that was the biggest thing he did for us.

“Academy systems are very important. It’s not just about making it as a professional, they are also giving you a wellness side, how to look after yourself, and that’s what we have tried to create with the Guild Academy.”

Academy members get detailed training programmes, designed to improve specific areas of play, test their skills in tournaments, and have gameplay performance analysed by Guild’s team of experts.

Guild will offer peer-to-peer coaching and advice, and use its academy structure to find the next generation of talent.

The Academy is launching first with Fortnite and Rocket League specific training, but stresses its priority is person first, player second and focuses on fostering good habits through better nutrition, work-life balance and more.

New players can sign up to a 30-day free trial, after which it will cost £4.99 per month.
