B&D Big-hitting Babar leads Pak Bristolian­s to win over Claverham

OPENER Babar Parvais cracked 153 off 123 balls to pave the way for Pak Bristolian­s to maintain their unbeaten start to the summer with a 120-run success away to Claverham in the Senior Division of the Martin Berrill Bristol & District League.

The next highest score was extras on 28 as Parvais took complete control, hitting 19 fours and two sixes, to lift his side to an imposing 290-9.

It proved to be plenty as Claverham came up well short, despite Dom Hooper’s 70. Qasir Abass finished with 3-36 from his nine overs.

Another opener in fine form was Tom Laver, whose unbeaten 120 saw Bradley Stoke to a comfortabl­e seven-wicket success away to Keynsham 2nds.

Requiring 205 for the spoils, Laver dominated his side’s reply, hitting nine fours and two sixes to close out the win.

Ian Fiebelkorn earlier hit 82 for Keynsham as Marcus Thatcher captured 4-25 from nine overs. There were also three wickets for Dan Laver.

Leaders Bedminster 2nds marched on with an eight-wicket home trumping of Frenchay. James Carter captured 4-30 from nine overs before unbeaten halfcentur­ies from Rob Cunliffe and Tom Pugsley wrapped up the points.

Heath, who battled away for their first win of the summer - a last over one-wicket home success against Timsbury.

Khalid Ali (4-16 from nine overs) and Jack Williams (3-18 from 8.2) helped peg back Timsbury to 163.

Heath appeared to be in charge at 131-3 but a flurry of wickets meant much rested on Dafydd Nicholas, who hit the winning boundary with just three balls to spare to finish on a crucial 41.

Second-placed Clevedon 2nds warmed up for their home clash on Saturday against Bedminster with a 113-run victory away to Shirehampt­on. Jack Houston hit 65, while there were three wickets apiece for Mark Bibbing and Luke Pearson Taylor.

Rueben Shehan’s 112 put Hanham on course for a four-wicket success away to Bristol Pakistanis in Division One, where Winterbour­ne 2nds squeezed out a lowscoring one-wicket triumph away to Chew Magna.

Mitch Vardy’s burst of 5-21 proved to be in vain for Hambrook, who suffered a three-run reverse at Failand & Portbury in Division Three. It was almost as close at Frampton Cotterell, where Pakistani Express prevailed by five runs. Shahwaiz Hassan hit 88.

Bowling performanc­e of the day came in Division 11, where Everton Burke claimed 7-13 from only six overs for Failand & Portbury, who saw off their St Mary Redcliffe counterpar­ts by 86 runs.
