CLEVEDON stretched further clear at the top of WEPL Premier One, producing a fine team performance to complete an 111-run home defeat of nearest rivals Bridgwater.

The North Somerset side battled their way to 215-9 after winning the toss, as teenage opener Ed Wade - a close-season capture from South Wilts - top-scored on 42.

Gloucestershire’s Jared Warner dug in for 29 off 56 balls, as nine players made it into double figures for the 2018 champions who then reduced Bridgwater from 69-3 to 104 all out, making it three wins in a row.

Dan Williams finished with 3-30 from nine overs, while Warner (2-8 from six), skipper Jake Lintott

(2-15) and spinner Max Horton (2-7) combined to good effect.

Next up for Clevedon is a trip on Saturday to Bedminster, who moved off the foot of the table with a second successive victory, downing

Cheltenham by five wickets. Jino Jojo (3-29), skipper George Drissell (2-22) and Tom Price (2-28) were the pick of the visitors’ attack as Cheltenham struggled to total 180. Openers Price (33) and

Danny Slade (2-46) helped peg back the Wiltshire side to a challenge of 233-6 which Thornbury, who are celebrating their 150th anniversary, chased down with more than three overs to spare.

Opener Dan Lezar (45) and Josh Riggs (41) found form at the top of the order ahead of Josh Slade (53 not out) ensuring no late drama.

» Rockhampton opened their account in the Gloucestershire division with a 127-run success away to Cheltenham Civil Service.
