999: WHAT’S YOUR EMERGENCY?
BBC1, 8.20pm Channel 4, 9pm
HOLBY CITY,
There’s a definite spark between Kian (right) and Lucky, and when she helps him out as he struggles during Andrei’s surgery, he asks her out for dinner. When Kian then finds out she betrayed him by calling social services about Andrei, however, things are going to get awkward.
Speaking of which, Ange and Josh find themselves in the most cringeworthy situation, as Hanssen quizzes them both for some pretty precise details about their relationship. While they worry about losing their jobs, they also wonder who’s dropped them in it.
Meanwhile Dom’s descent into evil continues, as he schemes for power and gets seriously miffed when a patient dumps his surgical services in favour of waiting for Sacha.
The documentary series has followed paramedics, police, firefighters and emergency call handlers in regions all over the country, but we’re back with South Yorkshire Police for series 13.
The theme of this first episode is revenge, something that results in about 800 calls a day for these cops, as people take the law into their own hands. Those neighbourhood feuds can often escalate into violence, which is when the police step in.
Like with the man in Sheffield who calls the police to report he’s being attacked by his partner, after she came home and found him with a prostitute. Or the woman who reports a neighbour is going around smashing cars with a hammer, or when a brawl starts outside a supermarket in Doncaster.
