Home is where the art is ‘I’ve got town landmarks inked on my leg’

ADAD of two from Clevedon loves his hometown so much he’s had its major landmarks tattooed on his leg.

Paul Harris, 52, was born at The Knoll Maternity Hospital in the seaside town and has lived there all his life.

And so strong is his passion for the coastal town that he’s had its major attractions inked on his leg.

His right calf boasts landmarks including Clevedon Pier, The Triangle Clocktower, The Curzon Cinema and the bandstand.

He even has a tattoo of the waves crashing against the shoreline on Clevedon beach and one of All Saints Church - one of the oldest buildings in the town.

Paul, a groundwork supervisor, had his first tattoo when he was just 16.

But it is only in recent years that he has started to have lasting tributes to his hometown inked on his flesh.

Paul, who attended Highdale School and Clevedon Comprehen

sive, said: “On my right leg, from my knee down, everything is about Clevedon,” he said.

“I was born here and have lived here all my life.

“It’s a great place and I love it.” Paul’s Clevedon tattoos are done by talented artist Martin Binczewski from Bristol.

“I am pretty much tattooed all

over,” said Paul. “I’ve got them on my back, both arms and my left leg and my right leg is about three quarters done”

But the fact that he’s inked pretty much all over is not stopping Paul who estimates his tattoos are worth around £12,000 - from having more.

Included on his wish list is a tattoo of an unusual grave in St Andrew’s Church graveyard with the name Frankenstein and the famous bent over tree on the seafront.

“My wife keeps asking me not to have any more,” he laughed.

“But as long as I have got a bit of space left, there’s some Clevedon landmarks I’d like to add.”
