FORMER BRISTOL MAYORAL CANDIDATE ADMITS HAVING PROHIBITED DEVICES TO USE IN PORN SHOOTS

AFORMER Bristol mayoral candidate has been spared jail after admitting possessing four disguised stun guns – which he said he used consensually with adult actresses.
John Langley – also known as adult-film producer Johnny Rockard – was found with the devices after a complaint was made by a model he was filming with.
He says he viewed the devices not as firearms but as novelty items, and used them with consent.
The 65-year-old, of Gloucester Lane in Easton, pleaded guilty to possessing items designed for the discharge of electric shock disguised as an iPhone, torches and USB memory stick in August last year.
Judge Michael Longman gave him an 18-month community order with a £100 fine and up to 25 days’ rehabilitation.
He told Langley: “You need to find another method in entertaining your audience.
“Any repeat offence will be dealt with that much more severely.”
The judge ordered the four devices be destroyed.
Outside court Langley said: “I think the judge was extremely fair. He reasoned everything in a constructive way.
“I’m lucky to be out but it was a

good decision.”
He added: “I wasn’t going back into politics anyway.”
Neil Treharne, prosecuting at Bristol Crown Court, described Langley as a “pornographic director” who catered for the bondage and sadism/masochism market and advertises online for actresses and models.
In August last year a model made a complaint to police, after electric shock equipment was used on her, with her consent.
Police went to Langley’s address and four prohibited Taser devices were found, disguised as a torch, a flashlight, a USB drive and a mobile phone.
One was flat, but three were fully charged and they were capable discharging between 5,000 and 6,000 volts, Mr Treharne said.
Langley told police he bought the devices from China.
Alistair Haggerty, defending, said people who participated in such practice knew what was involved.
He said: “Mr Langley made no secret of the nature of the videos involved.
“They fully consented to what was taking place. He says they signed up to be involved, they shared the same interest.”
Langley has a long history in Bristol’s political scene as well as a 40-year career in the adult entertainment industry.
He was open about that career during several attempts to be elected to both Bristol City Council, as mayor and as an MP in the city.
Langley was once in the Liberal Democrat party in Bristol, before joining UKIP and standing as a candidate for the council elections.
He then stood as an independent candidate in the 2016 Mayoral election in Bristol, and stood as an independent parliamentary candidate in the Bristol South constituency in the 2017 General Election.
He also stood as a candidate in the 2020 Mayoral election.
Langley has also campaigned to support homeless people – and the message has always been a major part of his manifesto.
