Protest Police release more images
POLICE have released more images of people they want to track down in connection with riots which broke out after the city’s first Kill the Bill protest.
Detectives say it is one of the ‘biggest investigations’ they’ve ever carried out, and have already arrested 69 people, leading to 21 charges.
To date, three people have pleaded guilty to riot charges and await sentencing.
Police say the violence which
broke out at the protest on March 21 is ‘the worst the city has experienced in some time,’ as multiple police officers were assaulted, as reporters and protesters were also injured.
Multiple police vehicles were damaged, including two police vans that were set on fire, and the glass exterior of Bridewell Police Station was smashed.
The cost to repair one of the vans and replace the other is £5,676 and £25,000 respectively, while the cost of the damage to the police station has been calculated at £41,350.
Police have now released images
of 12 more people they want to identify, as well as new photographs of four people.

Detective Chief Superintendent Carolyn Belafonte said: “We knew from the outset this would be one of the biggest investigations Avon and Somerset Police has ever carried out, and it’s proving to be so.
“Our officers and staff are committed to carrying out an exhaustive investigation to ensure all those who played a role in the terrible events of that night face the consequences
of their actions.
“We believe the people who feature in our gallery have information which could help our inquiry and I urge them, as well as anyone who knows them, to get in touch.”
Police are urging anyone with information which can help them identify any of the people in the images to call 101 and provide the call handler with the letter associated with the person/people.
