TONIGHT’S TV
DIANA’S DECADES ITV, 9pm
Another Diana series to mark what would have been her 60th birthday on July 1.
This one shows how each era of her life encapsulated the spirit of the age and inspired social change. Starting in the 1970s, it captures how the princess helped transform the fortunes of the Royal Family and Britain.
She was then a “normal person”, living in a block of flats in London.
Former Mirror chief photographer Kent Gavin recalls: “My editor asked me to look at this lady who was rumoured to be dating the Prince of Wales. I wasn’t very happy.
“I said, ‘You must be kidding, you want me to stand outside her door just to watch somebody walk across the pavement?’”
Little did he know she’d become the most famous woman in the world.
ROB & ROMESH VS TEAM GB Sky One, 9pm
Comedians Rob Beckett and Romesh Ranganathan go on a mission to see if they have what it takes to join the ranks of Team GB.
“We’re fed up with being useless at everything,” says Rob, hoping that of the 339 Olympic events on offer, surely they’ll be good at one of them.
Romesh says: “Loads of these sports we haven’t had a go at, so it’s possible we’ve got inside us some sort of natural kernel of ability.”
Of course, from what we see in this episode, they don’t. First they take on the canoe slalom, where Mallory Franklin and Kimberley Woods send them down sub-zero rapids.
Next, they try Olympic weightlifting before seeing if they have what it takes to be hockey goalkeepers. No prizes for guessing how they get on...
