APOPULAR pop-up venue in Bristol can now be hired for private events, including weddings.

In addition to its restaurant and vast pub garden, Breaking Bread on Clifton Downs has launched two new spaces this year which can host events with up to 500 people.

The Pergola, which features a stage and audio and lighting rig, is well suited to live performances as well as meetings, conferences and presentations.

The Team Canteen meanwhile features its own kitchen and can be used for supper clubs, food popups, cooking demonstrations and workshops.

Penny Warner, Breaking Bread project manager, said: “We’ve got some really special and innovative spaces, which can be tailored and adapted to suit wide-ranging requirements.

“We have incredible food and drink offerings and we have a brilliant team on hand to organise all kinds of events and entertainment, with some of the most experienced hands in events and hospitality.”

Breaking Bread is a collaboration between festival organisers Team Love and independent hospitality businesses The Pony & Trap, Bianchis Group, The Pipe & Slippers and The Love Inn.

Alongside the Pergola and Team Canteen, people can also hire out the Homegrown restaurant, which is housed in four neighbouring tipis, and the Pipe & Lovers beer garden, which has seating covered by stretch tents.

Breaking Bread can host a range of independent events, meetings, conferences, team building, parties and wedding celebrations, with special rates available for use by charities and CICs.

Events also help support work by Breaking Bread’s sister CIC, Team Canteen. Penny said: “The Team Canteen has been created as a vehicle for us to do our bit to fight against food vulnerability in the city. It’s a space to support training and work opportunities for young people, to try and remove barriers that have been exacerbated by the pandemic.

“It’s also used as a meal production facility for emergency and community food provision, which is directly helping to feed some of the city’s most at risk.

“By choosing Breaking Bread as a venue and having Team Canteen provide the catering services, people can directly support those affected by food insecurity in Bristol.”
