Josh leads goal spree for Old Cothamians Downs Torpedo and Sneyd quickly off the mark

TWENTY six goals were scored in four Premier games with Old Cothamians leading the scoring with an 8-2 win at Ashton Vale against Parson Street OB.

Josh Mitchell scored four times with the other goals for the victors from Tom Kitgrave (2), Abel dos Santos and Jason Fussell.

The early leaders are Avonmouth following a 5-0 home win over Bristol Spartak, thanks to goals from Josh Pearce (2), Kyle O’Donovan, Charlie Alton and Tommy Taylor.

Stoke Gifford United won 6-1 at home to Easton Cowboys in their first game of the season. Luke Baines scored for Cowboys.

A second-half double from Joe Weare helped Stoke Rangers overturn a half-time deficit to beat St Aldhelms 4-1. Cal Bagley and Ryan Rogers were their other marksmen.

At St Bede’s School, visitors Rockleaze Rangers Reserves beat Lawrence Weston Athletic 3-1 with goals from Charlie Chamberlai­n (2) and Jordan Lawrence.

In the Senior Division, Redbridge are the early pacesetter­s following a 2-1 victory at Jamaica Bell. Jack Elston and Jake Oliver scored for Redbridge, while Lewis Pratten replied for Jamaica Bell.

Bristol Bilbao won 3-0 at home to Ridings High in their first league game, courtesy of an Adam Brunton hat-trick.

Almondsbur­y Reserves maintained their 100 per cent record with a 3-2 win against Wessex Wanderers, whose goals came from Jack Millard and Tom Trimble.

TORPEDO and Sneyd Park, two of the usual title challenger­s in the Downs League Division One, both started the season with victories.

Torpedo overcame Wellington Wanderers 4-1, while Sneyd Park draw with Bromley Heath United Reserves.

Ben Morris, Tyler Compton, Steve Thomas and Adam Whale scored for Division One leaders Fishponds OB in a 4-1 win at Little Stoke Reserves.

In a great day for Stoke Gifford their reserves made it 15 goals for the club with a 9-2 win over Park Knowle.

Byron Leigh scored four times as newcomers Hartcliffe won 6-2 against Imperial Reserves. Steve Shepherd and Billy Saunders were also on target for Hartcliffe.

Cato Dragotoiu and Daryl Cox bagged braces for Cosmos UK in a 7-2 win against Rockleaze Rangers A. Joel Da Costa, Ryan Wilmott edged out AFC Bohemia 1-0. In the other top-flight games, Clifton St Vincents beat Portland OB 3-2, while Sporting Greyhounds defeated Jersey Rangers 2-1.

In Division Two, there were and Dorian Klapakis added their other goals, while James Packer and Jonah Ache replied.

AFC Whitchurch started their season with a 2-1 win at Old Cothamians Reserves, thanks to goals from Lee Dixon and Ricky Clark.

Kieran Cooper hit a hat-trick to help Filton Athletic Reserves to a 4-2 win at Easton Cowboys Reserves. Ryan Jones, with a freekick, also scored for Filton, while Dan Proctor struck both Cowboys goals.

Goals from Michael Allen (2), Reece Dunn and Simon Bracey secured a 4-1 home win for AFC Mangotsfie­ld against Lawrence Weston Athletic Reserves to move into pole position in Division One. opening-day wins for Saints OB Reserves (3-1 v Bengal Tigers), Evergreen Athletic (4-3 v Jersey Rangers Reserves), Ashley (walkover v Old Cliftonian­s) and Sneyd Park Reserves (2-1 v APS).
