THORNBURY Town Reserves have made a blistering start to their District Division One programme, one they hope to continue at home against Bristol Barcelona on Saturday.

Following 9-0 and 2-1 victories at home to Iron Acton Reserves and Bradley Stoke Town Reserves respectively, Thorns rattled up six without reply past Hanham Athletic Reserves with doubles by Harrison Young and Jake Budd, and singles from Matt Constable and Dan Da Silva.

MPK Lofts had Chris Bone, Luke Goodwin and Joe Cook on the mark as they overcame Olveston United Reserves 3-1 on their travels – George Kent struck for the hosts – while Paul Armstrong, Mike Thornhill, Rhys Ackerman and Dan Dyte shared the scoring to ensure Lawrence Weston Saturday a 4-2 win at Brimsham Green, who had Aaron Turner and an own goal boosting their chances.

Darren Bell and Justin Bishop strikes were sufficient to see Old Sodbury to a 2-0 win over Lion to belatedly set their season off in heartening fashion.

Adam Townsend and Kane Head grabbed the goals for Bradley Stoke Town Reserves, although their efforts could only muster a point from a 2-2 draw for their side at home to Iron Acton Reserves.

The outcome was the same as Tormarton, with Tyrese Tucker and Jake Schollick their marksmen, and Bristol Barcelona, helped by an own goal and Lukasz Jasikowski’s strike, fought out an entertaining 2-2 stalemate.

In Division Two, DRG SV Frenchay Reserves shared an 11-goal spectacle with Nicholas Wanderers A, who played a full part in the contest despite going down 7-4 to braces apiece for Jardell HartleyKeeling and Ken Nteghe and Milan Miller-Plummer, Simeon Hopkins and Ivan Boateng efforts.

Mendip Broadwalk A had Bradley Caton and Jack Oaten to thank for edging them past Bendix, whose Harry Madder kept them in the contest, 2-1.

Terry Caswell scored for Greyfriars Athletic Reserves in a 6-1 defeat to Winterbourne United Reserves, whose goals came from Ethan Tucker (3), George Sowden (2) and Liam Sheppard.

In Division Three, Thornbury Town A are brimming with belief and enthusiasm after following up a 9-1 opening-day romp at AFC Grace with nine more goals, this time without reply, against Lawrence Rovers Reserves. George Baker spearheaded the rampage with four goals as George Bush (2), Matt Chapman, Kieran CollinsJones and Phil Giles also contributed.

Unbeaten leaders Longwell Green Sports B were indebted to Jacob Leworthy and Sam Baker for the goals that overcame spirited visitors Fishponds Athletic 2-1.

Levi Morris and Louis Durnell were the respective marksmen for Hanham Abbotonians and Oldland Abbotonians Colts, who shared the spoils from a 1-1 Lees Hill stalemate.

Alex Rennolds scored for AFC Grace in a 2-1 home defeat to Iron Acton A.

Mike Alvis’ treble, and Dan Guibarra and Adam Grinter goals, ensured Hanham Athletic Vets a welcome first win of their Division Four programme with a 5-2 away defeat of Bristol Barcelona Reserves, whose Dan Lamb struck twice.

Lion Reserves had Russ Lee’s brace and Mate Istvan and Richard Estcourt on target, yet still it wasn’t enough to pin a first point to their board as Shaftesbury Crusade A secured three points with a 5-4 away win.

Tight it was, too, at Lyde Green where Longwell Green Sports C took a 4-3 tumble at home to a Bradley Stoke Town B outfit clinching victory via Kieran Jackson, Craig Webb, Andrew Turner and Adam Sykes strikes.

Ash Wells’ pair proved just enough to see Patchway Town A to a 2-1 defeat of guests Greyfriars Athletic A.

Tino Chipuriro scored for Seymour United B in a 10-1 defeat at Hallen A.

There was a glut of goals in basement Division Five, led by Real St George’s 9-5 success over FC United of Yate, to make it 16 goals for Saints from their opening two outings.

Elsewhere, Hanham Abbotonians Colts had doubles from Kieran Lambert, Jack Barrett and Jamie Jonas, and single efforts by Shaun Buist, Reece Barry and Elliot Hagerty, in a 9-0 home trouncing of
