BRISTOL CITY PLAYER RATINGS

-

DAN BENTLEY - 8

Beaten by Szmodics’ rocket and may have wished he was positioned slightly more to his left before a looping header went over him just before the break, too. Pushed away a Grant free-kick in stoppage-time to show his class again, however.

GEORGE TANNER - 8

Got forward to cross in the early minutes as he played right-back for this one. Then his first Bristol City goal to put the Robins in the lead as he slotted home with goalkeeper David Cornell drawn out to Joe Williams.

TOMAS KALAS - 7

The Czech Republic international cleared several crosses and was quick to get over as the rapid Dembele burst past the first line of defence. Late mistake as Kanu got in but he didn’t take advantage.

ROB ATKINSON - 7

Given a tough time by the canny Szmodics. Heavily involved in the equaliser, though, as he rose highest to head in a corner which went in via Williams and Thompson. Several good tackles on Dembele after the break and helped to repel plenty of crosses late on.

CAM PRING - 7

Brilliant pass to slice open the Posh defence and release O’Dowda after 24 minutes, before a terrific slalom past three players to rampage into the box himself without reward. Solid second half in the main, though Thompson and Kanu got down his flank a little too easily late on.

CALLUM O’DOWDA - 6

Burst into the box early on before hoisting over a great cross to Weimann, and then almost setting up Martin and Weimann. Would have been man of the match if his crossing had been a little better, as his play off the ball was magnificent.

MATTY JAMES - 6

Curled over the bar just before 20 minutes as he still searches for his first Bristol City goal. Great battling in the middle and some cute play to stop Peterborough building momentum at times. Steady shift.

JOE WILLIAMS - 7

Nice play by the corner flag to earn an early set-piece before a good deep cross to O’Dowda. Involved in the equaliser before heading an O’Dowda free-kick at goal just after the break. Great cross for Martin to head at goal late on before the same pair combined for City’s winner.

ANDY KING - 7

Led the press from midfield, yelling at Weimann to push forward to help. Used the ball well and knitted together several good periods of possession in the first half. Some smart long passes in the second half.

ANDI WEIMANN - 6

Met a free-kick in front of goal in the first half with just Cornell to beat but inexplicably cleared the ball in the opposite direction. Not on the same wavelength to some team-mates.

CHRIS MARTIN - 8

Went close to scoring in the second half but only ended up in the net himself as Cornell swept up. Galloped down the left wing at one point before heading Williams’ cross at goal, well saved. Unfortunate slip on 79 minutes as he created room for a shot but then scored the winner with his composed finish. SUBSTITUTES

ALEX SCOTT (for O’Dowda, 62 mins) - 7 Handed the final half-hour and walked into a duel with Thompson as both won a contest before the England Under-19 player won a free-kick. Excellent tracking back at times to stop Posh creating down their right.
