Academia inflict first defeat of the season on United

FC UNITED of Yate suffered a first defeat of the season in the Bristol Premier Sunday League Premier Division with a 3-0 reverse to Bristol Academia at the Netham Recreation Ground.

Zack Young (2) and Keanu Downer struck for Academia.

Second-placed Sportsman had a 5-3 win at Galenicals, whose goals came from Emmanuel Mbuthia (2) and William Marsh.

Two other Premier Division teams, Cutters Friday and The Robins, had comfortabl­e wins in the Somerset Premier Cup as they defeated Hamilton (5-0) and Huntspill Crown (7-1), respective­ly.

Luke Gibbons struck twice for Fishponds Town Wizards in a 4-3 defeat at Bristol County, while Curtis Parker bagged two goals as Bristol Sporting Club De Futbol beat AFC Sodbury Reserves 3-0.

Sporting United continue to set the pace in Division Four following a 5-1 win against Bristol Blues, with Simon Knight on target twice.

Thomas Butt (3), Fraser Butt (2) and Joshua Butt (2) scored for North Bristol Victory in a a 10-2 triumph at South Bristol. Their other gaols came from Brad Power, Aziz Alshamsi and Owen Trump.

Two goals from Thomas WelchRatcl­iff led The Argonauts to a 4-0 win at Spartans Reserves, while Team Nathan won 8-2 against Digital Dash.
