WELTON Rovers marched on at the top of the Toolstation League First Division with a 4-1 win at a Cheddar team that started the day in second play.

Tom Smith’s undefeated side gained a 14th win from 17 games following first-half strikes from Will Gould and Toby Cole and a second-half double from Jake Slocombe. With an 11-point lead at the top, Welton are already looking a good bet for promotion.

Warminster Town moved above Cheddar into second spot with a 2-0 win at Odd Down, while Sherborne Town stand fourth after coming from 2-0 down to win 3-2 at Bristol Telephones.

Oldland Abbotonians are in fifth after an entertaining 3-2 win at home to Radstock. Owen McCallum put Oldland ahead on 23 minutes, but Radstock equalised just before half-time and took the lead on the hour-mark. Jacob Reader marked his Oldland debut with a 68th-minute equaliser, and Craig Parsons did likewise six minutes later to win it for the hosts.

Bishop Sutton fell behind early on to AEK Boco, but hit back to win 2-1 with a 13th-minute Oaklan Buck strike and a 44th-minute goal from Craig Wilson, who tucked away the rebound after a Jordan Thaws shot had struck the crossbar.

A 24th-minute header from Isaac Flynn gave Almondsbury a 1-0 home win against Longwell Green Sports and a third victory in succession.

Hengrove Athletic won 2-1 against Lebeq United on the Oaklands Park 3G, while three secondhalf goals gave Portishead Town a 3-0 home win against Gillingham, with Rob Latham and Josh Honey among the scorers.

Tytherington Rocks slipped up 2-0 at home to Wincanton Town.

It was a bad day for Premier Division title hopefuls Bitton as they went down 4-0 at home to Mousehole, who led 1-0 at the break and then secored two goals early in the second half to kill the game off.

Bitton stayed second but are now seven points behind a Tavistock side that won 5-0 at Cadbury Heath, thanks to a hat-trick from Liam Prynn and a goal apiece from Lewis Daw and Josh Grant.

Keynsham Town are in sixth place following a 4-0 success at bottom side Bridport. Sam Jones struck early on, Will Hailston made it 2-0 before half-time, then a second-half brace from Dan Cottle wrapped up victory.

Josh Brace gave Brislington a 14th-minute lead against Bridgwater United at Ironmould Lane. However, Michael Duffy equalised soon after and Brislington were reduced to 10 men by the 22ndminute dismissal of left-back Harry Tobin. Bridgwater pulled away to win 5-1, with three of the goals coming in the closing 15 minutes.

Ashton & Backwell United lost 3-1 at home to Saltash United, while Clevedon Town battled out a goalless draw at home to Millbrook. Amazingly, it it was Clevedon’s first goalless draw at home in a competitive match for 193 games, since April 17, 2013 against Poole Town, and the first in home and away games for 177 matches, since a 0-0 draw at Hengrove on August 16, 2017.

In the Hellenic League Premier Division, Roman Glass St George went two up inside 15 minutes, through Neikell Plummer and Aaron Goulty, but ended up losing 3-2 at Shrivenham. Their woes were compounded by a red card for Lewis Leigh-Gilchrist, who was making his debut after signing from Bristol Manor Farm.

Chipping Sodbury conceded a goal in each half in a 2-0 defeat at home to Hereford Lads Club, while Thornbury Town had to settle for a point from a 1-1 draw at home to Westfields, despite taking an early lead.
