United egde out Sportsman again to boost title challenge

FC UNITED of Yate strengthen­d their position in the Bristol Premier Sunday League Premier Division title race with a second 3-2 win over close rivals Sportsman this season.

Two goals from Ruben NuevoDrape­r and one from Samuel Makepeace secured victory for Yate at the BAWA Ground and moved them eight points clear at the top.

Bristol Academia are in second place following a 7-1 win against Galenicals at Coombe Dingle, thanks to two goals apiece from Keanu Downer, Dominic Holver and Tyler Jackson and one from Conor Hartley. Cameron Easdown scored for the hosts.

The Robins, with games in hand on everyone else, could also emerge as title contenders. They made it three wins from four games with a 5-3 success at Cutters Friday, with goals from Shea Bennington­Mannings (2), Alfie Hemmings, Jack Jones and Jayden Nielsen.
