Bamford bags a double for title hopefuls Shire

Scott Bamford scored two more goals in a 2-0 win at Broadwell Amateurs to put his side two points ahead of Wick at the top of the table, having played one game more.

In the 19th minute, a free-kick from Bamford took a deflection off the wall and went past the Broadwell goalkeeper and into the net.

Five minutes into the second half, a poor clearance by the home defence saw Bamford collect the ball, nip past a couple of defenders and drive the ball into the corner of the net.

Wick had to settle for a goalless draw at fourth-placed Frampton United.

Wick almost secured the points in the last minute when they struck the crossbar and goalkeeper Tom Kaye pulled off a great save from the follow-up shot.

Bromley Heath United eased their worries in the lower part of the table with a 3-0 win at home to Ruardean Hill Rangers.

Bromley opened the scoring in the 55th minute with a far-post finish from Trai Ellison-Sacket following a corner.

Jack Withey slotted home a penalty on 71 minutes, and Sam Edwards added a third six minutes later.

Third-bottom Henbury lost 2-1 at Gala Wilton, despite taking a fifthminut­e lead through Will Baldwin.

Dan Gaynor’s 50th-minute penalty pulled Gala level, he grabbed the winner on 70 minutes.

Hanham Athletic are just one point adrift of English Bicknor at the bottom after a third successive victory - a 5-1 home triumph against Quedgely Wanderers.

On a blustery afternoon at Green Lane, visitors Patchway Town secured a 3-2 win against Hardwicke.

Joe Barnes gave Patchway a 21st-minute lead, Grant Mathieson added a second on the hour-mark.

Mathieson scored from the penalty spot five minutes later, before Hardwicke set up a tense finish with late strikes from Rob Hine and Adam Bloomfield.

Rockleaze Rangers ran out 3-0 winners against next to bottom English Bicknor, thanks to a hat-trick from Dan Webb, whose goals came after 17, 70 and 71 minutes.

Little Stoke suffered a 1-0 defeat at Sharpness.
