Prepare to get lost in Austen all over again
RELEASED exclusively on Britbox weeks before it arrives on ITV, this is the second series of the period drama based on Jane Austen’s final, unfinished novel.
Created by Emmy and Baftawinning writer Andrew Davies, the first series left fans in suspense and clamouring for more.
Sidney and Charlotte, played by Theo James and Rose Williams, finally confessed their love for each other.
But then Sidney broke the news to Charlotte that he planned to honour his word and marry Eliza Campion instead. Charlotte was left heartbroken.
This picks up the action nine months later, with some shocks in store for the town and some new characters in the mix.
Charlotte takes up the role of governess to Augusta Wilson (Eloise Webb), Alexander Colbourne’s ward and niece, who at the age of 17 pushes against authority and gives Charlotte a run for her money.
Charlotte’s spirited younger sister, Alison Heywood (Rosie Graham) comes to Sanditon to pursue her own dreams – mainly to attract a rich husband.
Expect lots of romance, friendships and challenges for the residents as the Army makes Sanditon their new base.
The Parkers are back as Tom Parker (Kris Marshall) strives to rebuild Sanditon. But there are many unforeseen issues awaiting him, while the secrets and lies of the dysfunctional Denhams continue to rock the foundations of the sunny seaside town.
And, in her last summer season before turning 21, Georgiana Lambe (Crystal Clarke), keen to forge her own identity, gets up to mischief – all in the name of love.
