Wick see off Little Stoke to reach Les James Cup final

TITLE challenger­s Wick are eyeing the double after a 4-0 home win against Little Stoke in the Les James Cup semi-finals.

Wick took the lead after 12 minutes when Sean Morris headed home from a Ben Harris corner.

In the 21st minute, Harris fired a shot into the far corner of the goal to make it 2-0.

Harris and Rob Moore came close in the early stages of the second half for Wick, while Jaiden Holver pulled a shot just wide for Little Stoke.

On 75 minues, Ben Weaver drove into the Little Stoke box on the left, and his cross found the back of the net off a retreating defender.

The fourth goal came in stoppageti­me when Sam Thomas glanced a header from a corner into the net.

Rockleaze Rangers are 11th in the table following a 3-2 defeat at Quedgeley Wanderers.

Five minutes into the game saw a Sean Lawson cross end up as an own goal by the Rockleaze centreback. A second goal for the home side arrived on 38 minutes when a cross by Ryan Webb was tapped in by Jordan Rouse. Two minutes before the break, the home side made it 3-0 when Kyle James-Bryan scored following a Webb free-kick.

In the 59th minute, a Rangers free-kick was floated into the box and headed in by Dan Webb.

In the last minute of the game, Rangers made it 3-2 when Webb set up Sam Bailey to score with a shot from the edge of the penalty area.

Patchway Town moved up to ninth with a 1-0 derby win at home to Henbury, who remain in 14th place.

The first effort on goal came from Panchway’s Phil Dolby, whose effort struck the crossbar.

Shortly before half-time, Henbury were unlucky when Brandon Dack fired a shot just over the c rossbar after Patchway had failed to clear a free-kick.

Patchway were awarded a penalty on 50 minutes for a foul by Cameron Tarr, and as this was his second yellow card he was dismissed. Phil Vice took the penalty for the home side but missed the target.

Following a counter-attack by Henbury in the 52nd minute, Dack struck the upright. In the next minute, Patchway grabbed the lead when Sam Finn headed in a Grant Mathieson cross.

In the 80th minute, Henbury’s Matt Jones cleared off the line from a Ben Thomas shot. Then, with five minutes left, a long-range shot from Ollie Bacon hit the crossbar.

In the only other league games played, English Bicknor drew 1-1 with Broadwell Amateurs and Sharpness won 2-1 at Ruardean Hill Rangers.
