Stab incident Woman in stable condition

AWOMAN who was stabbed at an address in Bristol on Sunday, was yesterday in a stable condition according to Avon and Somerset Police.

A man in his 20s has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and, as of yesterday afternoon, remained in custody.

The update was provided by Avon and Somerset Police following the alleged serious assault at a house in Ringwood Crescent in Southmead at around 5.40pm on Sunday.

A young man was arrested after a woman in her 20s, who was not named, was stabbed and rushed to hospital in a “serious but stable” condition.

A heavy police presence was spotted around Ringwood Crescent on Sunday night, with forensic officers also at the address.

Police tape cordoned off the house, garden and pavement outside.

Neighbours said that a large crowd of local residents had gathered at the scene as police and paramedics descended on the address in Ringwood Crescent at around 6pm on Sunday.

A spokespers­on for Avon and Somerset police said: “At 5.40pm ... a woman in her 20s was stabbed by a man at an address on Ringwood Crescent, Bristol.

“The woman was taken to hospital by ambulance and is in a serious but stable condition.

“A man in his 20s has since been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and he’s in custody for questionin­g.

“A full investigat­ion is under way but at this stage we’re treating this as an isolated incident. Detectives and specialist crime scene investigat­ors remain at the scene carrying out enquiries.

“The neighbourh­ood policing team is also conducting reassuranc­e patrols of the area and should anyone have any concerns, they’re encouraged to speak to one of the officers,” he added.
