Motorcycling Fricker makes promising start to No Limits season
DAMIEN Fricker, owner of Autotriology.com, claimed top spot after a progressive opener at the famous Silverstone circuit in the No Limits Racing Championships.
The 2021 champion started off the weekend well qualifying in P2 in class with 58.400, seven hundredths of a second off the top spot taken by Kawasaki rider Liam Murtagh.
But it did not all go Flicker’s way as he had to retire early in the first race due to his rear wheel bearing shattering. This meant he would have his work cut out for the second race of the weekend, with a starting point of 20th on the grid.
Fricker, from Bristol, as usual took it all in his stride streamlining through the pack with ease, soon moving up to 17th position and taking second place in class, giving him those all-important points in the championship and a position on the podium.
Race three saw him again start quite far down the grid, but to put this into context there were quite a lot of guest riders from the British Superbike Championship competing in this same race (for practice).
Twenty-first position soon turned into 16th and he found himself P1 in class and was delighted as he took the final chequered flag of the weekend with a 57.772.
Since coming back after having time away from the sport, he has gone from strength to strength, hopping on the Aprilia RSV4 and falling in love with the bike. It allowed him to progress quickly in 2021 where he won the No Limits Cup 1000 Championship at the penultimate round, collecting multiple podium positions and silverware along the way.
Fricker said: “Since I started racing I have tried to work my hardest and give it everything I have both on and off the track. The hard work starts at home with training and nutrition and then everyone that has helped to get me here, it just would not be possible without them.”
“The first race didn’t go to plan but races two and three I clawed it back and was sitting in a position that I felt comfortable. I know that moving on to Snetterton for round two, I will be looking to get further up the grid.”
“I have to say a massive thank you to Aprilia and Ian Newton from the British Superbike team, IN Competition for helping me out through these last couple of years. The Aprilia RSV4 1100 has performed incredible every weekend, through every condition you could imagine.”
