Circus high-flyers soar into town

-

A HIGH-octane circus has flown into Bristol just in time for the Easter holidays.

Revel Puck Circus, which reviewers have described as a “bucket of joy”, has set up in St Pauls and features some of the world’s best circus performers as well as local artists.

The circus has partnered with Places for People to set up ‘The Puck’ – a 600-capacity tent on Dove Lane.

The location is earmarked for future development that will bring hundreds of new homes, shops and flexible workspaces to the area – but for now it’s home to some spectacular circus thrills.

The Revel Puck Circus, formed in East London in 2018, will be performing its smash hit production The Wing Scuffle Spectacular with a 19-strong troupe.

Its large-scale production celebrates fear and received five-star reviews when it premiered last year.

Places for People’s development director for placemaking and regeneration, Yuved Bheenick, said: “At Places for People, one of our main aims is putting people first and supporting the communities where we deliver homes.

“We’re proud to support what promises to be a great event for local people.

“Arts and culture are essential to our wellbeing, and it is very much our mission to make a difference where we can.

“We look forward to working with the local arts scene at this event, and hope it is the first of many similar projects that we can support as we continue our work in Bristol.”

As well as the Revel Pucks, a variety of local food and drink favourites will be on offer – and additional entertainment will be provided by the muchloved Brizzle Boyz and Drag Queen Bingo.

Luke Hallgarten, artistic director of the Revel Puck Circus, said: “We cannot wait to work with the local community; it just feels so right to be starting our international tour in the vibrant neighbourhood of St Pauls.

“We are proud of this new production and are excited to be welcoming local Bristol artists into the big top.”

Revel Puck Circus will be taking over St Pauls from today until April 24, with daily shows at various times.

Tickets, costing from £15.68, are available via the online box office at revelpuckcircus.com.
