Relegation battlers Hanham have to settle for a draw

-

FOR a third week running, relegation battlers Hanham Athletic had to be content with a draw, this time it was at Bromley Heath United where both sides failed to score.

The visitors had a good spell in the second half and forced two great saves from home goalkeeper Will Ferguson, the first from Liam Jenkins and the second from Matt Currnock. Bromley came close on 87 minutes when an effort from Joe Goss hit the upright.

Bottom side Hanham remain a point behind English Bicknor following their 1-1 draw against Quedgeley Wanderers, but have a game in hand.

Shirehampton stayed seven points clear at the top with a 3-0 home win against Hardwicke.

Shire went ahead after just two minutes when a shot from Ryan Radford was deflected into the net off a Hardwicke player.

Just before the hour-mark, Charlie Pollinger sent a header into the top corner of the net to give Shire a two-goal cushion.

The killer blow was struck just two minutes from time with a bullet header from Ciaran Greening following a Rich Brightwell corner.

Wick, who have two games in hand on Shirehampton, kept up the pressure on the leaders with a 1-0 home win against Rockleaze

Rangers.

On 40 minutes, a free-kick from Rockleaze’s Miles Hadfield was tipped over the crossbar by Wick’s Jay Powell.

On 60 minutes, Wick thought they had won a penalty when Mike Hardiman went down in the box, but this was waved away by the referee.

Minutes later, Wick’s Tommy Longhurst hit the Rockleaze bar with a cross-shot.

The deadlock was finally broken on 75 minutes following a move down the right when Luke Lecrass delivered a cross for Mike Hardiman to head the ball into the far corner of the net.

Little Stoke suffered a 2-1 defeat at home to Gala Wilton.

In the 25th minute, Little Stoke’s Jayden Holver was brought down and a penalty was awarded. Holver took the spot-kick and put his side in front.

However, within a minute, Gala were level as they, too, were awarded a penalty when Stoke’s goalkeeper brought their striker down. Dan Gayner planted the ball into the Little Stoke net from the penalty spot.

On 70 minutes, Connor Walters was put through on goal and he fired a low shot into the bottom corner of the net for the winning goal. Harrison Moore had a good chance late on to equalise, but put his header over the crossbar.
