Somerset agree partnership deals as season gets under way

-

SOMERSET County Cricket Club has completed two partnership deals with the opening of the 2022 County Championship season.

Taunton-based law firm Clarke Willmott has renewed its 30-year legal partnership with the club, while builder’s merchant chain Jewson has also been announced as an official partner.

Clarke Willmott, which has an office in Bristol, will also continue as members of SCCC’s LBW – Leading Businesses in the West – business club. The firm will also be a matchday sponsor during the LV= Insurance County Championship season.

Chris Thorne, partner and head of Clarke Willmott’s Taunton office, said: “Following what has been another challenging year for the club and the country as a whole, we are delighted to have again renewed our longstanding partnership with Somerset County Cricket Club and are very pleased to remain as their preferred legal partner. The club remains at the heart of our community and the chance for people to engage with first class sport right on our own doorstep this summer will continue to be a welcome distraction as we look forward to what we hope will be the beginning of a return to some degree of normality.”

Caroline Herbert, commercial director for SCCC, added: “Our relationship with Clarke Willmott is one of the club’s longest standing partnerships and everyone associated with Somerset County Cricket Club is delighted that this is set to continue.

“Over the years, we have developed an outstanding working relationship with Clarke Willmott, and in particular the staff of the Taunton office, and long may this continue. We look forward to partnering with them again in what will hopefully be a successful season for everyone associated with Somerset County Cricket Club.”

As part of its agreement with the club, Jewson will have its branding emblazoned on the back of the team’s Vitality Blast Twenty20 competition shirts, a tournament Somerset finished runners-up in last season.

Headquartered in Coventry and with more than 500 branches across the country, Jewson said its new partnership with the club would help to strengthen connections with tradespeople and businesses in the region.

Andy Jordan, South West regional director at Jewson, said: “This partnership is one that we are hugely excited about. As one of the most historic clubs in the County Championship, Somerset CCC is part of the fabric of life in the South West, and we know many of our customers are passionate cricket fans.”

Ms Herbert added: “We are genuinely excited to welcome Jewson to the Somerset County Cricket Club family.”
