Suburban St Aldhelms on the road to safety after three successive victories

AFTER three wins in a row without conceding a goal, St Aldhelms moved off the foot of the Premier Division with a 6-0 victory against Easton Cowboys at Whitehall.

Jack Rees (2), Harry Templeman, Ash Farrell, Sam Payne and Carter Bailey scored for Saints.

The race for the champioshi­p, and a possible place in the Gloucester­shire County League, comes to a head on Saturday as leaders Avonmouth face second-placed Stoke Gifford United. Gifford are two points behind with two games in hand. Both teams had wins last week, with Avonmouth beating local rivals Lawrence Weston Athletic 4-0 in midweek and Stoke Gifford travelling to Hengrove and beating Bristol Spartak 2-0.

Third-placed Filton Athletic overcame Rockleaze Rangers Reserves 5-0 and have only lost once all season, but have probably drawn too many games to finish as champions.

Lawrence Weston Athletic bounced back from their heavy midweek defeat to win 6-1 at home to AFC Mangotsfie­ld.

Successive 6-1 victories have taken Broad Plain House to within four points of the Senior Division championsh­ip. The latest one came at home to Jamaica Bell, as Ben Snell, with a hat-trick, Joe Banks (2) and Alfie Hemmings scored the goals.

Second-placed Wessex Wanderers were without a game and thirdplace­d Redbridge were awarded a walkover.

At Blackhorse Road, AFC Mangotsfie­ld Reserves shared two goals with Bromley Heath United Reserves.

Ricky Clark was on target for Division One leaders AFC Whitchurch but they dropped two points after being held by visitors Rockleaze Rangers A.

Ben Morris struck the winner for Fishponds OB, who moved into second place with a 1-0 home win over fourth-placed Stoke Gifford United Reserves.

Mo Salihu scored four times for Little Stoke A but his goals were in vain as visitors Easton Cowboys won the nine-goal thriller by the odd goal. Balle Jose scored a hattrick, with Christophe­r Wilton and Maelor James the other Cowboys marksmen.

Old Cothamians Reserves improved their chances of not finishing in the bottom two with a 4-2 home win over Imperial Reserves, while Filton Athletic Reserves won 4-2 at Somerdale against Cosmos FC.

Finley Dorrington scored four times to help Division Two leaders St Valliers to a 7-1 home win over fifth-placed Cadbury Heath Reserves. Ryan Goldsmith, Callum Cannings and a debut goal from Scott Bowler completed the scoring. Callum Whooley scored a consolatio­n goal for the Heath.

Second-placed Rockleaze Rangers B lost 5-3 at Ashton Vale against Parson Street OB.

Kane Adams continued his return from injury, following last week’s two goals with a hat-trick this time.

In a double fixture, Broad Plain House Reserves gained six points with two 2-1 victories against St Aldhelms Reserves. Micky Gough scored both goals in the first game,with Ben Llewelyn and Ollie Burton on target for them in the second game.

Munda Ngeh and Tim Harris were the Bristol Phoenix marksmen in a 2-0 victory at Cutters Friday Reserves, while third-placed Suburban Phoenix beat Lawrence Weston Athletic Reserves 2-0.

The top two in Division Three took maximum points. Leaders Rockleaze Rangers C won 3-1 at Fishponds OB Reserves, whose goal came from James Armstrong.

Second-placed Wessex Wanderers Reserves travelled to Hanham and beat Socius United 5-2. Nathan Price and Kanwarpree­t Singh scored two apiece for Wessex, whose other goal came from Rayon McLean. Jason Holmes’s and Matt Jenkins replied for United.

Only one team has a 100 per cent record in all seven divisions and Division Four leaders Stokeside clinched the title on Tuesday with a 6-1 win against Bristol Phoenix Reserves, which followed a 7-1 home win over Bradley Stoke C, when Barry Schnipps scored four times. Ronnie Adams, Randy Pritchard and Ronnie Doidge completed the scoring, while Liam Platts struck for Bradley Stoke.

Little Stoke A won 6-4 at Bristol Phoenix Reserves, for whom Cody Thomas, Joe Reeves, Reece Stiddard, with a penalty, and Amusan Koyode scored.

In Division Five, leaders Supreme Sports have a six-point lead, although they dropped two points last Saturday in a 2-2 draw at Port of Bristol. Connor Luke Hartley and Charlie Harvey scored for the Sports.

AC Bristol ended their fixtures with a 2-1 defeat at Hartcliffe Reserves and lie in second place. James West scored both Hartcliffe goals.

Corinthian­s Athletic edged out Rockleaze Rangers D 3-2.

» Life Church A won the Bristol Churches League Cup last Wednesday with a 4-3 penalty shootout success at Oaklands Park, following a 1-1 draw against Clevedon Family Church. Andy McManus scored for Life Church.

The cup triumph sealed an excellent season for Life Church, who finished third in Division One.
