Stoke Gifford crowned Premier Division champions

THERE were big celebratio­ns at Stoke Gifford United on Saturday after a 5-1 victory at Hillside Gardens against Rockleaze Rangers Reserves clinched the Premier Division title and earned them a place in the play-offs to enter the Gloucester­shire County League.

Josh Kloet, promoted from Rockleaze C team, scored their consolatio­n goal.

Second-placed Avonmouth took their clean sheet tally to 12 with a 2-0 away win over AFC Mangotsfie­ld. Alfie Taylor and Josh Pearce were on target for Avonmouth.

Filton Athletic shook off a disappoint­ing defeat to Totterdown United in the GFA Senior Cup final on penalties, after the game finished goalless, with a 7-0 home win over Easton Cowboys.

Four successive victories, with only one goal conceded, has lifted St Aldhelms up to ninth after they beat Old Cothamians 3-1 at Headley Park.

Goals from Jimmy Fortt, David Hughes and Robert Jarrett earned Bristol Spartak a 3-1 victory at Lawrence Weston Athletic.

In the Senior Division, Broad Plain completed the first leg of a possible treble, and second-placed Wessex Wanderers clinched a promotion spot, by beating fourthplac­ed AFC Mangotsfie­ld Reserves 3-1, thanks to goals from Kim Machipisa (2) and Tom Trimble. Redbridge took third spot courtesy of a 3-1 victory at The Field against Bosley Cup finalists Almondsbur­y Reserves, thanks to goals from Sam Preston, George Brown and Jake Oliver.

Lewis Pratten included two penalties in his hat-trick to help Jamaica Bell to a 3-2 home victory over Southmead Athletic to finish fifth.

Five wins in an unbeaten sixgame run has lifted Stockwood Wanderers Reserves up to seventh after they beat Bromley Heath United Reserves 2-0 at Stockwood.

The Division One title will be decided on Saturday when new leaders Stoke Gifford United Reserves host previous leaders AFC Whitchurch, with both clubs on 43 points. Stoke Gifford Reserves won 4-1 at Rockleaze Rangers A.

Third-placed Fishponds OB missed a chance to join the leaders on 43 points, dropping two points at Norman Goulding Cup finalists Hartcliffe FC, but it was a good point as they came back twice from being two goals down. Dan PitcherSag­e, Clem Smith and Steve Thomas were the OB marksmen.

Kai Salandy bagged a brace for Easton Cowboys Reserves in a 6-4 defeat to Imperial Reserves. Marley Bennett and Michael Malay scored their other goals.

St Vallier have finished their season and hold a 12-point lead at the top of Division Two. However, second-placed Rockleaze Rangers B, who have four games to play, edged out Bristol Phoenix 2-1 at the Civil Service Ground. Semy Habiby scored for Phoenix.

Two teams are fighting for third spot. Suburban Phoenix need three points from two games after receiving a walkover against Broad Plain House Reserves. Cadbury Heath Reserves stayed in the hunt with a 3-2 home win over St Aldhelms Reserves, thanks to goals from Callum Whooley (2) and Jordan James.

In a derby at Kingswesto­n, Avonmouth Reserves beat Lawarence Weston Athletic 7-5.

Division Three leaders Rockleaze Rangers C need to beat bottom of the table Easton Cowboys A in their last game to clinch the title.

Redbridge Reserves need two points from two games to climb above Wessex Wanderers Reserves to clinch second place after they won 4-0 against Easton Cowboys A.

Ollie Attwood (2), Nathan Price, Stefan Aspell, Nick Trutch, Rayon McLean and Charlie Kempson scored for Wessex Wanderers Reserves in a 7-0 win at home to Socius United.

Stokeside Sports, who won Division Four by eight points, completed a double by beating Rockleze Rangers B 4-2 in the Len Bartlett Cup final on Tuesday last week.

In the Norman Goulding Cup final last Thursday, Stoke Gifford United Reserves beat Hartcliffe FC 2-0.
