NEW Zealander Mitch Renwick hammered 192 off 152 balls (17 fours and a six) for Bristol, who launched their Premier Two Bristol/Somerset campaign with a comfortable 151-run home triumph over promoted

Golden Hill.

The 29-year-old Otago batter totally dominated his side’s innings. Opener Nic Halstead Cleak (54) and captain Louie Shaw (44) the next highest scorers in a challenge of 344-4 before Golden Hill came up well short, despite Daz Ahmed’s 59, as Shaw (4-21) and Sam Brewer (3-23) turned the screw.

Next up for Bristol, who last year missed out on promotion on the final day of the season after leading the division virtually all summer, is a trip to Bishopston, who slipped up by three wickets at Downend.

Openers Tommie Predgen (56) and Max Harsham (32) gave Bish a solid start before the innings tailed away, as Matt Jackson, Bobby Naeem and new skipper Callum Loud bagged three wickets apiece.

Gloucestershire’s Ian Cockbain (70) and wicketkeeper Patrick Grieshaber (39) then played important knocks for Downend, who were eager to start off a winning note after last summer’s relegation.

Winterbourne saw off promoted Shapwick & Polden by four wickets at The Rec.

Captain George Ford (3-32) led the way, while there were two wickets apiece for Ahmed Tabraiz, Darren Vickery and Aaron Blake as the Somerset visitors were dismissed for 151.

Sam Bracey’s unbeaten 50 then saw Winterbourne to the win, with Ford also hitting 39 at the top of the order.

Tahmid Ahmed starred with 4-38 from ten overs and then top-scored on 41 for Weston-super-Mare completed a nervous two-wicket success at Frome.

There were also two wickets apiece for Tom Court and Tom Chambers, while Shabel Ahmed finished with 1-18 from nine overs as Frome were bowled out for 149 after winning the toss.

Weston, in reply, were on the back foot at 17-4 before Tahmid Ahmed and Dexter Trego (39) steadied the ship, with captain Chris Davidson adding a crucial 33.

Midsomer Norton were fivewicket home victors against Ilminster.

Will Cartlidge smashed 106 and Will Tyler contributed 56 as Rockhampton chased down a target of 277 away to Charlton Kings for a three-wicket success with two overs spare in the Gloucestershire division.
