Green energy is here

-

THE war in Ukraine and its effect on oil and gas supplies has simply intensified the need to switch our energy system to greener, non-polluting forms of energy.

The time of green energy has come! This could be solar, it could be wind, it could be other. But we need to shift from fossil fuels to other sources of energy.

If we do that, the Russian leaders will not be able to hold us to energy ransom and they won’t get billions each year to fund their military adventures.

Mariupol has been hugely destroyed. It was a city like Bristol. It is a port and had about the same population.

The Russians have failed in their assault on Ukraine, they could not defeat the Ukrainian military. Brit- ish Intelligence estimates that 15,000 Russians have been killed.

So because they cannot win, the Russians resort to shelling cities and terrorising civilians.

Imagine if the Russians were shelling Bristol and your home – horrible thought, isn’t it?

This is why we need to help and arm the defenders. And why we need to move quickly to greener forms of energy.

There is abundant solar and wind power around. The new Heat Pump system is good. Is Bristol pioneering on this? Well, we were the first city to get electric trams, so maybe we will be one of the first cities to pioneer new greener energy systems.

This is a start and we can hopefully now do a lot more. This forward-thinking will make Bristol an even more attractive place to live – green energy is good for jobs, good for the local environment, good for the city. More please!
