-

gave themselves hope of avoiding relegation from the Marcliff Gloucestershire County League with a 2-1 victory at mid-table Ruardean Hill Rangers.

Henbury moved within one point of second-bottom Quedgeley Wanderers, and hold a game in hand, after securing a third win of the season.

Henbury’s equaliser came on 81 minutes when Ross Jones headed in a free-kick at the back post. Just a minute later, Hill failed to clear a cross and Russ Stone grabbed a surprise winner for Henbury.

Cribbs Reserves stand nine points clear at the top following a 6-1 victory against third-bottom Patchway Town at Scott Park.

Andy Forward gave Cribbs an early lead, then Patchway squandered a penalty opportunity on the half-hour mark when Brandon Detain’s spot-kick was saved by Harry Bridgeman.

In the second half, Cribbs’ second came after Kieran Clayton’s cross was flicked past Sam Burgess by Jack Guthrie.

Aaron Coleman made it 3-0 with a shot from just inside the penalty area. After this Tom Headford weighed in with a hat-trick in less than 15 minutes, before Patchway’s consolation came in time added on when Detain scored from a freekick.

Second-placed Rockleaze Rangers thrashed Gala Wilton, in fourth, 7-1 at Hillside Gardens.

A brilliant volley from Jensen Beard put Rockleaze in front, but that was the only goal of the first half.

After the break, the goals flowed as Sam Bailey, with a hat-trick, Tate Shaw, Fraser Butt and Joe Lewis added further goals for the home side.

Bromley Heath United kept their title hopes alive with a 2-1 win over Broadwell Amateurs at Pomphrey Hill.

The deadlock was broken 10 minutes into the second half when Fenn Willoughby set up Aiden Noble to score.

A far-post strike from Harry Knight brought Broadwell level, but a 75th-minute penalty from Nathan Rose gave Heath the three points.

In a derby, Stoke Gifford United drew 1-1 at home to Little Stoke.

Gifford took the lead on 11 minutes when Harry Johnson released Paul Cronin, who beat his man and set up Brad Probert to score from 10 yards.

Little Stoke started the second period with more zest and began to really push Gifford’s defence back. The equaliser came 15 minutes before time when Lewis Hughes smashed home a free-kick from 25 yards out.
