BRISTOL ROVERS PLAYER RATINGS

-

ELLERY BALCOMBE - 7

His kicking drew frustration from his manager a couple of times in the first half, but Balcombe responded by making a strong save to repel a rasping strike from Jonson Clarke-Harris. Commanded his box and punched dangerous corners away on numerous occasions. Made a superb save to deny Clarke-Harris from close range in the final minute of stoppage-time, although the offside flag meant it wouldn’t have counted.

JAMES GIBBONS - 7

Was in the thick of it in the early exchanges with Kwame Poku and Ephron Mason-Clarke asking questions of the fullback, but Gibbons stuck to his task, although he gave way a few too many soft fouls. Grew into the game as an attacking threat after the break.

JARELL QUANSAH - 8

Will have a sore head after getting on the end of several crosses which were slung into the area. Colossal; perhaps his best performance in a Rovers shirt.

LEWIS GIBSON - 8

Marshalled the defence expertly, going up against Clarke-Harris and gave the ex-Gas striker very little joy. A cool head in a frenzied atmosphere as Posh grew increasingly desperate for a winner. LEWIS GORDON - 8

A rock-solid performance. Never looked like buckling.

LAMARE BOGARDE - 7

Battled away in a physical midfield battle and he gave as good as he got. Taken off with 20 to play as he was on a booking. SAM FINLEY - 7

His use of the ball in the first half left something to be desired, but he switched on in the second half and started to pull the strings in Rovers’ bursts of pressure. Will be frustrated he did not make more of a good opportunity to cross after being released by Loft, but he managed himself well on a booking.

GRANT WARD - 7

Pushed on as a right winger when Rovers had the ball in the first half and he got into some good positions without capitalising.

Moved into the midfield two later in the game and kept the levels high

AARON COLLINS - 7

Was justified in his rage as Coburn declined the chance to play him in on goal in favour of an ambitious shot from range; it would have been a huge chance for Collins to open the scoring in the first half. Rovers’ top scorer kept going and produced their best moment when he unleashed a fierce strike from range, but he was denied by a fine Will Norris save. RYAN LOFT - 7

Ran his heart out and applied an intense press on the Posh defence when Rovers were out of possession. His first touch wasn’t the best, but he did well to create a very good crossing chance for Finley that came to nothing shortly before he was replaced.

JOSH COBURN - 7

Knew he had made a mistake when he tried to smash the cover off the ball rather than play Collins in for a golden chance in the first half. That moment showed the youngster is searching for a goal having not scored since January, but he didn’t let it affect him too much as he grafted until the last.
