GOLDEN Hill are through to the group quarter-finals of the ECB Women’s Club T20 thanks to a comfortable home victory over Huntley.

The visitors, who earlier in the day edged Hatherley & Reddings by three runs, were restricted to 78-6 after losing the toss, Katie Foot (34) and Gemma Abbott (23) shining against Ruby Priscott (2-8) and Abigail Woodworth (2-12, both from four overs). The Bristol side then took charge with the bat, with opener Prarthana Reddy making 28 as the win was clinched with almost six overs to spare.

Golden Hill’s reward is a trip to Bridgwater or Dumbleton, who meet on Sunday.

Frenchay, meanwhile, were trumped by 44 runs at home to Bath. Emily Austen (3-10) and Liv Daniels (3-18, both from four) shone as Bath’s older and more experienced line-up had to work hard to reach 94-7.

Frenchay, in reply, were soon on the ropes at 12-7 before Anmol Krishna’s battling unbeaten 24 ensured the home side batted all 20 overs in a reply of 50-9. » Gotherington beat Rockhampton in a bowlout to reach the Gloucestershire group quarterfinals of the Voneus Village Cup.

No play was possible for a second consecutive weekend because of the wet conditions, hence the need to find a winner in a competition which runs on a tight schedule.

It was Gotherington who eased through via the dreaded bowlout – all 11 players having one delivery at a full set of stumps – to win 2-1 and book a home date on Sunday against Kingsholm, who had a walkover against Cam.

Also into the last eight are a Winterbourne side that saw off Frocester by 22 runs in a 30-over contest.

Opener Soban Irfan (80 off 90, seven fours and three sixes) and Ahmed Tabraiz (40) led the charge to a total of 173-4.

Left-arm quick Tabraiz followed up with a devastating opening burst of 3-14 from six- overs to help reduce Frocester’s reply to 49-6.

The home side steadied the ship through Rhys Lamplugh (47 not out) and Jock Catto (25) before eventually being dismissed for 141 in the final over.

Winterbourne will now be home on Sunday to Marshfield with the other two ties seeing Almondsbury host Apperley and Painswick entertain Frampton-on-Severn.

Stapleton, meanwhile, travel on Sunday to Wembdon in the Somerset & Avon group.

» Golden Hill have been given a walkover against Clevedon in the ECB National Club Championship.

Bristol West Indian Phoenix went down by 39 runs at Keynsham, where the home sidereached 128-7 before the visitors were restricted to 89 all out.

» Six WEPL triangular qualifiers in the ECB National Club Twenty20 have been scheduled for the long weekend.

Clevedon will host Bedminster and Bristol on Sunday, when Weston-super-Mare welcome Congresbury and Thornbury, and Midsomer Norton will entertain Lansdown and Frome.

The action continues on Monday with Shapwick & Polden home to Taunton St Andrews and Wembdon while Taunton Deane open their doors to Bridgwater and Wellington. Bath and Corsham, meanwhile, travel to Potterne.

Matches at the six venues are scheduled for around 10am, 1pm and 4pm.
