Suburban Abbotonian­s eye more cup glory after victory against Heath

HANHAM Abbotonian­s Reserves, last season’s Len Bartlett Cup winners, reached the semi-final of the Norman Goulding Cup with a 5-3 win at Bromley Heath United Reserves from Division One. They will play either Cadbury Heath Reserves or Broad Plain Reserves.

FC Union also beat a team from the division above when they travelled to Somerdale and beat Redbridge Reserves 4-2, thanks to strikes from Harry Chappell (2), Daryl Cox and Nick Potter. They will play Avonmouth Reserves in the semi-finals.

In the Premier Division, the top three teams all gained victories. Leaders Filton Athletic won 3-0 at Coombe Dingle against Old Cothamians. Trey Merritt scored twice and there was also an own goal.

Second-placed Wessex Wanderers won 9-1 at Lawrence Weston Athletic. Zac Sow led the scoring with a hat-trick, Tom Trimble and Josh Cotterton completed braces and goals from Sam Glasson and Ollie Attwood completed the scoring.

Kyran Hunt, Kian Williams and Kieran Cox were the Bristol Spartak goalscorer­s in a 3-2 home victory over Redbridge. Ed Searle and Enes Ozturk scored for Redbridge

Jordan Dent scored twice for Rockleaze Rangers Reserves but his goals were in vain as fifthplace­d Stoke Gifford United Reserves won 4-2.

Louie Davis scored for St Aldhelms in a 3-1 defeat against Southmead CS Athletic at Headley Park.

In the Senior Division, secondplac­ed Jamaica Bell took their unbeaten run to eight games, including seven victories, after goals from Charlie Carline, Will Stevens, Kev de Cristofaro, Ben Kwapong and George Holgate gave them a 5-0 home win over Easton Cowboys Reserves.

Leaders St Vallier had goals from Josh Butt, Jordan Evans, Jaiden Holver, Rob Sivers and Callum Cannings in a 5-3 win against Mendip Broadwalk Reserves at Lockleaze Sports Centre.

Filton Athletic Reserves, the GFA Junior Cup finalists, won 3-2 at Stockwood Wanderers Reserves to stay in fifth place, thanks to goals from Said Hassan, Youseff Malik and Billy Bennett.

In a basement battle at Ashton Vale, visitors Hartcliffe FC beat Parson Street OB 4-1.

At Badminton Road, a single goal earned all three points for Almondsbur­y Reserves against Fishponds OB.

Division One leaders Rockleaze Rangers A had a 2-1 victory at Little Stoke Reserves and opened a six-point lead over second-placed Avonmouth Reserves who lost 2 0 against Cosmos in a game played at Avonmouth because of Cosmos’ pitch being unfit. Andrew Davies and Ionel Popescu were the Cosmos marksmen.

Simon Boss-Johnson completed a hat-trick for AFC Bohemia in a 5-1 win against Bristol Phoenix, taking their goal tally to 13 in the last two games. Ali Lockyear and Ivan Woodhouse completed their scoring, while Dan Bishop scored for Phoenix.
