Redfield clinch the crown with victory against Bitton

REDFIELD Rovers clinched the District League Division Two title with two wins in the space of three days.

Redfield followed up last Thursday’s 3-1 success against Real St George with a 3-1 Saturday victory against Bitton Reserves, in which George Vessey, Sheldon Walker and Malachy Walsh-Langford scored their goals.

Made For Ever Reserves stayed on course to finish runners-up with a 5-1 home win against Greyfriars Athletic Reserves on Tuesday night.

Bedminster Down, the Senior Division champions, ended their campaign with a 3-2 victory against mid-table Longwell Green Sports Developmen­t at Lyde Green. Aaron Price (2) and Dean Yandell struck for Bedminster, with Mitch Gold and Dan Stevens on target for Longwell Green.

Lion’s hopes of finishing runners-up were hit by a 1-1 draw at Pucklechur­ch Sports. Ross Pidgeon scord for the hosts, while Mate Istvan was the Lion marksman.

FC Rangers clinched the title with a 3-0 midweek win at De Veys Reserves and a 3-0 Saturday success at bottom side Seymour United Reserves, with goals from Jack Kewley, Sam Wentland and Sam Robertson.

Bristol Boys, the Division Four champions, had a hat-trick from Layton Thompson in a 7-0 home win against Lion Reserves.

Remarkably, five teams remain in with a chance of taking the runners-up spot. Made For Ever Reserves hold that spot for now, despite being beaten 5-1 by AFC Mangotsfie­ld Reserves last Saturday.
